ChatGPT and other platforms like it appear to be here to stay. ChatGPT is an artificial intelligence program that can write for us, answer questions, explain topics we wish to know more about, and create images from a text description.

A fellow program, Claude, operates similarly. Having used both, I would describe Claude as your business major friend who doesn’t do small talk, which is why it is so good for business projects.  And ChatGPT is more like a liberal arts major empath who tries just a little too hard to be your friend. :)

I know there is a lot of debate as to the use of these programs, and specifically, how to monitor their use by students to complete coursework. ChatGPT in particular has an easily identifiable cadence to it and uses some telltale phrases that make it easy to spot. I can almost always tell when someone has posted or sent me something created by ChatGPT. If you see something that talks about a subject then asks, “and honestly?” or says something about “saying the quiet part out loud,” you have most likely received an AI-generated email or post.

chatGPT Harvest Party

I am not at all in favor of using them to do all the work for us, and certainly not when it comes to homework. But these types of platforms can be very helpful to get us started, summarize our positions, or help us formulate a plan.

But if these things are going to be our eventual overlords, I say we should familiarize ourselves with them and use them as the butler most of us don’t have. :)

I thought it would be fun to use it to see what a ChatGPT Harvest Dinner Party would look like. This is one area where its lightning-fast responses can drastically reduce the time and effort required to accomplish a goal.

The fun part about it is that it usually does more than you ask, and offers suggestions for what it can generate next to help you.

Since it is now officially fall, how fun would it be to host a Harvest Dinner Party? I would have to wait at least another month for it to feel like Harvest Party weather here in Texas, but if you live somewhere where fall is showing up on time, I encourage you to give this a try! I think this would be a lovely event, held outside at sunset.

You can set up a free ChatGPT account, and there are paid options as well. I have the free version, and the only drawback for me is that it seems to limit the number of prompts you can submit per day. So if you’re feeling particularly chatty, you might find a paid version better suits your needs.

If you would like to host a Harvest Party, let’s get started! You can use this same system for any party you have in mind.

I pulled up ChatGPT and asked if it could help me put together a Harvest Dinner Party. It seemed to be very excited about this, and gave me a wealth of information that would have taken me a long time to compile by myself.

It immediately provided me with a:

  • Style (rustic elegance)
  • Color palette (warm ivory, caramel, rust, sage, cranberry, and natural wood tones)
  • Mood (candlelit, cozy, welcoming, and abundant)
  • Suggested guest count: 8-10 guests

So far so good! I can get behind all of that.

It suggests that I start out with a Welcome Cocktail, and recommends an Apple Cider Bourbon Spritz and a Cranberry Rosemary Sparkler.

For the first course, it recommends Butternut Squash Soup with toasted pepitas and a drizzle of maple crème fraîche.

For the main course, it suggests Herb-Roasted Turkey Breast or Cider-Glazed Pork Tenderloin, with sides of Maple Roasted Sweet Potatoes, Wild Rice & Mushroom Pilaf, Honey-Glazed Carrots, Roasted Brussels Sprouts with Bacon, and Warm Artisan Rolls & Whipped Honey Butter.

It also suggests a salad course with a Harvest Salad made with pear, pomegranate, goat cheese, candied pecans, and a maple Dijon vinaigrette. It had me on that one with the candied pecans. I LOVE those things.

Dessert is a warm Apple Crisp with a drizzle of salted caramel and vanilla ice cream.

After dinner, it suggests serving coffee and hot tea, along with spiced pecans and dark chocolate truffles.

I don’t know about you, but I love this suggested menu. ChatGPT provided a full shopping list for this menu.

It then provided me with a plan for setting the table:

Then it told me what to do to create a centerpiece:

For lighting, it suggested I turn off overhead lighting once the dinner begins, and use candles, supplemented by low-wattage lamps and subtle accent lighting.

See how much work this is saving us?

Next, it moved on to placecards, suggesting a couple of different options:

I have some wonderful fall placecards in my Printable Shop, if you are looking for inspiration.

It then prepared a preparation timeline, summarizing what I need to do two weeks before, one week before, two days before, the day before, the morning of, two hours before guests arrive, one hour before guests arrive, and 30 minutes before guests arrive.

It then gives me a timetable of what to do once the guests arrive. I told you this thing tries really hard to get you to like it. :)

It tells me it thinks I should put together a printed menu card for the guests, and makes suggestions regarding the size, paper choice, and font. It offers to create a coordinated set of placecards, menu, shopping, and host checklist. Yes, please!

Here is the menu it created:

The basics are there, and I would probably just pop this into Canva and add my own touches to make this a bit more interesting. But it did the heavy lifting, so I just get to do the fun part.

Same with the placecards it created:

Finally, I asked it to help me with a toast to welcome guests. The result was a little long and flowery for my taste, but it did offer to help me change it if I wanted to make it shorter, or more fun, or whatever I was looking for. I do like the last part it created, and would probably just say something short and sweet like that. Here is the last part of the toast it suggested:

All of this took only a few minutes to create. How long would that take you to create on your own? I know it would definitely take me longer than it took ChatGPT. After I looked everything over, I asked it about the recipes for the menu it suggested, and where I could find them. Here was its response:

Here is a sample page from the recipe book it generated:

It then said it could gather the recipes for me, combine them with the menu, placecards, shopping list, and timeline, and create a Harvest Dinner Host Book for me as a .pdf and asked if that would be helpful. Uh, yes! This is the kind of stuff that is the real time saver when using artificial intelligence to be more efficient.

Why cheat on your homework when you can use a tool to create an entire Harvest Dinner Host Book for yourself? :)

As with anything, the results are only as good as the information that is requested, so if you want to try to use ChatGPT to help you with something, be as specific as you can with your prompt. If you don’t like what you get back, ask to refine it or change it to include what you want. Then always check the results, as mistakes can be made with these learning platforms.

I hope I have shown you how easy it is to use artificial intelligence and how to let it help you quickly plan a ChatGPT Harvest Dinner Party!

If you give this a try, I’d love to hear about it! And if there are tasks you have learned to use AI to help with, I’d love to hear about that too!

And I’d love for you to follow me on Pinterest!
