We’re pulling into the gate on this holiday season, and you might be in need of a cocktail. Or maybe two? :)
Christmas Cocktails to the rescue!
Christmas Cocktails can be a fun way to end a busy day or to serve at your holiday gathering. I have two favorites to share with you.
Up first, the Santa Hat Sour.

This cocktail is similar to a Whiskey Sour, but switches out the whiskey for Campari, for that beautiful red holiday color.
Campari is an Italian liqueur with an orange flavor, with hints of cherry, cloves, and cinnamon. Perfect for the holidays.

This cocktail uses Campari, lemon juice, simple syrup, egg white, and rosemary.
You can easily make your own simple syrup by heating equal parts water and sugar until the sugar dissolves. Allow the mixture to cool, then store until ready to use.
Many cocktails call for simple syrup, like my favorite Mint Julep, so it’s a good idea to have it on hand for when the mood strikes.
The egg white is what gives this Santa Hat cocktail the look of Santa’s hat, but if you are nervous about consuming a raw egg white, you can use pasteurized egg whites.
The best glass to use for this cocktail is a coupe or martini glass. I am partial to a lovely coupe. If you watch old movies, they always drink champagne from a coupe and I think it is so much more sophisticated looking than a flute.

Refrigerate your glass while you prepare the cocktail.
Simply place 1/2 fresh rosemary sprig, 1 1/2 ounces lemon juice, 1 1/2 ounces simple syrup, 1 ounce Campari, and 1 large egg white in a cocktail shaker. Seal and shake vigorously for 10 seconds.
You will want to do this before adding ice to the shaker, as this helps incorporate the egg white.
Fill your shaker halfway up with ice, seal your shaker, then shake until the outside of your shaker is very cold.
Pour your drink into your cold cocktail glass using a strainer. Garnish with a rosemary sprig. This would also be lovely with a sprinkle of pomegranate arils.
You can adjust the quantities for this cocktail to suit your taste. The ratios for a typical Sour are 2 ounces of spirit to 1 ounce of citrus to .5 ounces of sweetener. So if you don’t like the cocktail as is, try this ratio to see if you like that better.
Up next, the Melted Snowman Cocktail!

This is a holiday take on a White Russian, and you don’t even need a cocktail shaker to make this one.
To make this cute drink, add ice to a glass of your choice.
Then add 1 1/2 ounces (3 T.) of vodka, 1 1/2 ounces (3 T.) of Kahlua, and 2 ounces (1/4 cup) of half and half. Stir to combine. Top with whipped cream. Then place 2 mini chocolate chips and an orange jimmie on the whipped cream to form the snowman’s face.
You don’t have to limit this cute snowman look to cocktails. I have to admit, I have been so taken by this idea that I have been adding chocolate chips and orange jimmies to my coffees this week. :)

So if you are in the mood for a little bit of holiday cheer in the form of a cocktail, I hope you’ll give these Christmas Cocktails a try! I’d love to know what you think!
