Upcoming College Scholarship Workshop

If you have a student in college or one who is about to start, you know all too well how expensive it can be. I can’t think of any family who wouldn’t welcome help paying for college. Scholarships can be a lifesaver when facing a large tuition bill. Or any tuition bill, for that matter. 🙂

If you have read my blog for a while, you may remember a post I wrote introducing you to Jocelyn Paonita Pearson, who knows her way around a scholarship. She is the creator of The Scholarship System and was able to secure 6-figures in scholarship money for herself and graduated from college without any debt. She has made a career out of helping families find money for college by giving them a step-by-step process to implement to secure scholarships.

My daughter is about to start her senior year in college, but I remember very well all the effort we put into looking for scholarships. My daughter was able to secure a hefty 5-figures in scholarships, but I am sure we could have gotten more if we had known what we were doing. 🙂 If you are anything like we were, you are probably struggling to find scholarships for which your student is eligible. It can be very overwhelming and the temptation to quit is strong.

We’re in the home stretch of college, but I want to pass along some information to help those of you who are just beginning this process. The Scholarship System is offering a free live training series August 12th-15th called “2 Days to $10K” that will walk you step by step through the process of creating a scholarship list for your family.

This live 3-part series can help save you from some of the frustrations and pitfalls of navigating the world of scholarship hunting. The workshop gives actionable steps for every type of student, even those with less than perfect test scores or grades. And you don’t have to be considered low income or an athlete to qualify for scholarships.

The workshop will address the needs of students starting in 9th grade all the way through current college students.

As part of the workshop, you will get a free Scholarship Tracker, which is a plug and play tool that will help you calculate and keep track of all your family’s scholarship applications.

The workshop will be conducted live in a private Facebook group and you can register by clicking here. If you are unable to make the live training, recordings will be made available to those who have registered for the workshop. The live format will allow you to interact with other families and ask Jocelyn questions as you go through the training.

As of June 2018, Forbes reported that the total student debt for students in the U.S. is $1.52 trillion. TRILLION. Some students graduate owing over $100,000.

Interestingly, I read that 13% of members of Congress also have student debt, with the average amount owed at $37,000, which is commensurate with what the average population owes. So clearly, paying for college is difficult at many income levels.

Scholarships are preferable over loans because they don’t have to be paid back. I love watching our scholarships hit each semester and knock that tuition bill way down. Even though applying for scholarships is a hassle and can be intimidating, it really is not something you should neglect as part of your college application and admissions process.
