Have you ever caught a leprechaun? I have not, but I’m pretty sure I could by using this Leprechaun Bait.
I personally would willingly walk into any trap where the payoff is Lucky Charms, which is a key ingredient in this St. Patrick’s Day treat.

I decided to make some this weekend and oh, this stuff is dangerous. Kids will love it, but there might not be any left by the time they get home from school, and if you decide to eat it all yourself, no judgment from me. :)
I’ve seen lots of recipes for making Leprechaun Bait and it is very easy to make. The recipe I use to make mine calls for:
- 2 cups Chex cereal
- 2 cups Lucky Charms cereal
- 2 cups of small pretzels
- 1/2 cup mini M&Ms
- 10 oz. bag of white chocolate melting chocolate chips (I used Ghirardelli)
- 1 tbsp of coconut oil
- green sprinkling sugar
Stir together the two cereals, the pretzels, and the M&Ms.

Melt the white chocolate and coconut oil in 30-second intervals until melted. Be sure to stir it after each 30 seconds because chocolate doesn’t always look melted until it is, and you don’t want to burn it. You can also melt the chocolate in a pan on a stovetop if you prefer.

Pour the melted chocolate over the dry ingredients.

Stir everything together, working quickly, as the chocolate will set up quickly.

Spread the mixture on parchment paper. Sprinkle with the green sugar. Once the mixture hardens, you can break it into smaller pieces.

This would be cute in little treat bags as a St. Patrick’s Day gift.

Leprechaun Bait is really quick and easy to make and I’ll warn you, it is VERY addictive. I don’t know if it’s the combination of the sweetness from the candy and Lucky Charms and the salty from the pretzels, but I ate WAY too much of this. It is a big hit at our house.
If you like to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day and are looking for a delicious snack, you will want to make this Leprechaun Bait. Even if you don’t catch any leprechauns, you will enjoy eating this yourself.
